JKM Daerim® has bagged an order for one million compressor housings from Honeywell – Garrett, the world’s largest manufacturer of Turbochargers for diesel vehicles. JKM Daerim® is Honeywell’s single source in India for this product and supports Honeywell’s operations in various parts of the world.
Compressor housings are highly engineered and intricate parts, made to exacting specifications and manufactured from special aluminum alloys under highly controlled conditions. They are a critical component in the manufacture and assembly of the entire turbocharger.
JKM Daerim® has set-up large-scale manufacturing facilities to execute this order. There are 9 manufacturing ‘lines’ dedicated for this project and more manufacturing lines will be set-up, as required by the customer. The castings are done by Dynametal®, a division of Dynamatic Technologies, the aluminium die-cast foundry located in Chennai. JDAL maintains ZERO-ppm quality levels in dispatches of compressor housings to Honeywell.
Honeywell manufactures over 9 million turbochargers per annum. With the increasing use of diesel engines worldwide, the demand for turbochargers will continue to rise. Though European automobile manufacturers lead the field in the usage of turbochargers, the American market will see high-growth rates in future, keeping in mind the high price of oil and the increasing use of diesel engines in automobiles.
